Age Calculator
Enter a date of birth to get an exact age in years, months and days on any date, plus the total in weeks, days and hours and the days to the next birthday.
Enter a date of birth and the date you want the age on, or press the button to use today. The calculator counts whole years, then whole months, then the days left over, and adds the same span as totals. Someone born on July 15, 1990 is 36 years, 2 months, 22 days old on October 7, 2026: 13,233 days in all, born on a Sunday, with 281 days to go until they turn 37.
Ages are calendar counts from the dates you enter and ignore the time of birth and time zones. Where an exact age matters on an official form, or for a leap-day birthday, confirm which rule the organization asking uses.

About the Age Calculator
An age in years, months and days is counted forward from the birthday: the calculator steps one month at a time from the date of birth, stops at the last monthly anniversary that is not past the second date, and counts the remaining days exactly. When a month is too short for the birth day, the anniversary moves to the month's last day, so a person born on January 31 reaches a new month on February 28, or February 29 in a leap year. The same rule covers leap-day birthdays: someone born on February 29, 2000 turns 1 on February 28, 2001 and has a real February 29 again in 2004. Some places and forms count March 1 instead, so check which day an official form uses. The totals count calendar days between the two dates, so the hours figure is whole days times 24 and ignores the time of birth, time zones and clock changes. Weeks are whole weeks with the leftover days shown beside them. The next birthday is the first anniversary on or after the second date, so on the birthday itself it shows zero days to go. Dates run from the year 1000 to 9999 on the Gregorian calendar, extended back before it was adopted.
Frequently asked questions
How old am I today?+
Enter your date of birth and press the button to fill in today's date from your device. The large figure is your age in years, months and days, and the lines below give the same span in months, weeks, days and hours. The answer changes at midnight where you are.
How is age counted for someone born on February 29?+
In years without a February 29, this calculator counts the birthday on February 28, because that is where a year added to February 29 lands under its end-of-month rule. The years, months and days figure turns over on the same day, so the two never disagree. If a form you are filling in uses March 1, the age is one day behind until then.
Can I work out an age on a past or future date?+
Yes. Change the second date to any day on or after the date of birth: the age on a past date, at a school or job start date, or how old someone will be at a future event. A second date before the birth date shows a prompt instead of a negative age.
Why does a months-and-days age sometimes look a day off from my own count?+
Months have different lengths, so counting by months then days depends on where you start. This calculator steps whole months forward from the date of birth and counts days from the last monthly anniversary, the same way most date libraries do. Counting backward from the second date can give a different split of the same total days, which stays exact either way.
