ACT Score Calculator
Turn your English, math and reading scores into an ACT Composite, add science for your STEM score, or combine several test dates into a Superscore.
Your ACT Composite is the average of your English, math and reading scores, rounded to the nearest whole number, with one-half rounded up. Scores of 24, 22 and 27 add to 73, which averages 24.33, so the Composite is 24. Science no longer counts toward the Composite; it feeds a separate STEM score.
This calculator applies ACT's published averaging and rounding to the section scores you enter; it is not an official score report and is not affiliated with ACT. The STEM rounding of one-half is a ManyTools convention because ACT does not publish it. Colleges decide which scores and Superscores they accept, so check each school's policy.

About the ACT Score Calculator
ACT changed how the Composite is built in 2025. Science was dropped from the Composite for National online tests in April 2025 and for every ACT from September 2025, so the Composite is now the average of three sections, English, math and reading, each scored from 1 to 36. ACT rounds the average to the nearest whole number, with fractions of one-half or more rounded up. Scores of 25, 26 and 26 average 25.67, a Composite of 26. Science still gets its own score, and it combines with math into a STEM score: a 22 in math and a 20 in science give a STEM score of 21. ACT does not say how a STEM score that ends in one-half is rounded, so this calculator rounds it up, the same as the Composite. If your older score report includes science in the Composite, the legacy mode averages all four sections: 24, 22, 27 and 20 make 23. The Superscore takes your best English, math and reading from any test dates and averages them. A student with 24, 22 and 27 on one date and 26, 21 and 25 on another has best scores of 26, 22 and 27 and a Superscore of 25. Each college decides whether it accepts Superscores.
Frequently asked questions
How is the ACT Composite score calculated?+
Add your English, math and reading scores, divide by 3 and round to the nearest whole number, with one-half rounded up. For 24, 22 and 27 that is 73 divided by 3, or 24.33, so the Composite is 24.
Does science count toward the ACT Composite?+
Not on tests from September 2025, or National online tests from April 2025. Science is optional, has its own 1 to 36 score, and is averaged with math into the STEM score. Older reports averaged all four sections, which the calculator also shows when you enter a science score.
How do I calculate my ACT Superscore?+
Take your highest English, math and reading scores from any of your test dates (the calculator takes up to three), add them, divide by 3 and round. Best scores of 26, 22 and 27 give 75, an average of 25, so the Superscore is 25. Switch to Superscore mode and enter each date.
Is this my official ACT score?+
No. The calculator applies ACT's published averaging and rounding to the section scores you type in. Your official scores are the ones on your ACT score report, and colleges set their own rules for which scores they consider.
