Case Converter

Paste text once and get it back in nine cases at the same time: upper, lower, title, sentence, camel, Pascal, snake, kebab and constant.

Last updated: October 4, 2026How this is calculated →

A case converter rewrites the capital letters in your text without touching the words. Paste or type in the box and every style appears below it at once, each with a Copy button: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, and the four naming styles programmers use for variables and files, plus CONSTANT_CASE. The sample line becomes The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog in title case and theQuickBrownFoxJumpsOverTheLazyDog in camelCase.

Title case and sentence case here follow ManyTools' own rules, not a particular style guide, and neither can recognize proper nouns, acronyms or brand spellings. Check anything you will publish against the style guide you are required to follow.

About the Case Converter

Upper and lower case use the same character rules your browser applies everywhere else, so accented letters convert cleanly and the German sharp s becomes SS when capitalized, which is why uppercase text can come out one letter longer. Title case follows a house rule rather than any single style manual: every word is capitalized except twenty short words such as a, an, the, and, of, to and via, which stay lowercase unless they open or close the line. AP, Chicago and APA disagree with each other on words like over and with, so check a headline against the guide your editor uses. Sentence case lowers everything and then capitalizes the first letter of the text and the first letter after a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark that is followed by a space or line break, so it will not restore names like Paris. The code styles split your text into words at spaces, punctuation and hidden capital boundaries, so parseHTMLString turns into parse_html_string. All of it runs in your browser; the text is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change uppercase text to lowercase?+

Paste the text into the box and copy the lowercase line. If you want normal sentences rather than all small letters, copy the Sentence case line instead, which capitalizes the start of each sentence. Names and places will still need a quick manual fix, because no converter can tell a proper noun from an ordinary word.

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?+

Title case capitalizes most words, the way book and article titles are usually written: A Tale of Two Cities. Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence, the way you would write ordinary prose: A tale of two cities. Many websites now use sentence case for headings because it reads faster.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?+

They are ways to join several words into one name without spaces, used in programming and file names. camelCase starts lowercase and capitalizes each later word (userFirstName), PascalCase capitalizes every word (UserFirstName), snake_case uses underscores (user_first_name), kebab-case uses hyphens (user-first-name), and CONSTANT_CASE is snake_case in capitals (USER_FIRST_NAME).

Does the converter change anything besides capital letters?+

Upper, lower, title and sentence case keep every space, line break and punctuation mark exactly where it was. The five code styles do remove spaces and punctuation, because joining the words is the point of those formats. The counts under the box show characters, words and lines so you can check nothing went missing.
