Pictionary Word Generator
Draw random things to sketch from 240 hand-picked prompts, sorted into five categories and three levels of difficulty.
A Pictionary word generator hands the drawer a secret word so nobody at the table has to think one up. This one picks from 240 prompts written for sketching: 48 each of animals, food, objects, actions and places, with 16 easy, 16 medium and 16 hard in every category. Leave both filters on any and each prompt has a 1 in 240 chance per pick, shown on the page as 0.4167%. Tick hide each prompt until tapped, pass the phone to the drawer, and only they see the word.

About the Pictionary Word Generator
The difficulty labels follow one test: how many strokes it takes before a guesser can name the thing. Easy prompts are a single shape with an outline people know at a glance, such as a kite, a snail or a slice of pizza. Medium ones need a second detail to separate them from a lookalike, so a seahorse has to be told apart from a plain fish and a lighthouse from any tower. Hard prompts are scenes or phrases where the drawer has to show something happening, like build a snowman, a traffic jam or breakfast in bed. Multi-word prompts count as one entry. Every entry was chosen to be family-safe, with no brand names, no famous people and nothing a teacher would have to skip. Draws come from your browser's cryptographic random source, mapped onto the list by a method that throws away the rare values that would favour some entries, and nothing leaves your device. Narrowing the filters raises the odds of each prompt: easy animals alone is 16 entries, 6.25% each.
Frequently asked questions
How do I use this for a game night?+
Split into two teams and set a timer, usually 60 seconds. The drawer opens this page with hide each prompt until tapped switched on, presses Draw, taps to read the word alone, then sketches while their team guesses. Hand the phone to the next drawer and press Draw again. No repeats is on by default, so a single draw of several prompts never shows the same one twice.
Which difficulty should I choose for kids?+
Easy for children under about eight, since every easy prompt is a single object or animal they will have seen. Medium works for older children and mixed-age tables. Hard prompts include actions and scenes, such as play hide and seek or pitch a tent, and animals with awkward shapes like a platypus, and they suit teenagers and adults who enjoy drawing a little story.
Can I keep the same word from coming up again?+
Within one draw, yes: with no repeats ticked, asking for 10 prompts gives 10 different ones. Each new press of Draw starts fresh, so a prompt can return in a later round. For a whole evening without repeats, draw 30 at once with hide switched on and work through them in order, tapping one per turn.
Why are some prompts two or three words?+
Actions and scenes often need a phrase to be drawable. Ice cream, fire hydrant and walk the dog are each one idea, and guessers win by naming the whole phrase. If your group plays single words only, set the category to animals or objects at easy difficulty, where every prompt is one word.
