Dividend Calculator: Yield, Income and Reinvestment
Find a stock's dividend yield, what your shares pay now and per payment, and how the income grows year by year with or without reinvesting.
Dividend yield is the yearly dividend per share divided by the share price. A $1.75 annual dividend on a $50 share is a 3.50% yield, so 100 shares pay $175.00 a year, or $43.75 a quarter. Reinvested at a steady price for 10 years, those payments grow the holding to about 141.69 shares.
This calculator shows dividend arithmetic for general education; it is not financial, investment or tax advice and not a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Dividends are not guaranteed: companies can cut or stop them, and share prices rise and fall. The projection applies only the growth rates you enter, once a year, and leaves out taxes, fees and timing; your broker's statements are the figures that count. Consult a qualified financial or tax professional about your own situation.
Shares and prices take up to four decimals; growth rates -50% to 50%; 1 to 50 years.

About the Dividend Calculator
Three numbers drive the result: how many shares you hold, the share price, and the dividend each share pays over a year. Yield is the yearly dividend divided by the current price, so it moves whenever either one does: the same $1.75 dividend on a $40 share is a 4.38% yield. Income is simpler still, shares times the annual dividend, split across the payments the company makes. The projection is where reinvesting shows up. With it on, each payment buys more shares at that year's price, and those new shares collect the next payment. With the price held at $50 and the dividend flat, 100 shares that pay $175.00 a year today reinvest into about 141.69 shares by year 10, paying $242.63 that year and $2,084.54 in total over ten years, against $1,750.00 if the cash is taken instead. You can add yearly growth for the dividend and for the price; both are your assumptions, applied once a year. The model leaves out taxes, fees, dividend cuts and price swings inside a year, so treat the projection as arithmetic on the numbers you chose rather than a forecast.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate dividend yield?+
Divide the annual dividend per share by the current share price and multiply by 100. A stock paying $1.75 a year and trading at $50 yields 3.50%. If the price drops to $40 and the dividend holds, the yield rises to 4.38%; that higher yield comes from the falling price, not a bigger payout.
What does reinvesting dividends change?+
Each payment buys more shares instead of landing as cash, so later payments are larger. In the default example, 100 shares become about 141.69 after 10 years of quarterly reinvestment at a fixed $50 price, and the year-10 payout is $242.63 instead of $175.00.
Where do I find the annual dividend per share?+
Brokers and company investor pages list the most recent payment and how often it is paid. Multiply a quarterly payment by four or a monthly one by twelve to get the annual figure, and check whether the company has changed the amount recently, since the yield uses whatever you enter.
Does this include taxes?+
No. Results are before tax. Dividends are generally taxable income in a taxable account, and how they are taxed depends on the account and the type of dividend, so check your own tax forms or a tax professional.
Dividend yield as the yearly dividend rate divided by the current price: FINRA, Defining the Value of an Investment. Reinvested dividends reported as dividend income: IRS Topic No. 404, Dividends.
